Mine Water Geochemistry and PHREEQC Modelling

The “Mine Water Geochemistry and PHREEQC Modelling” course is a 2.5-day workshop that introduces participants to the geochemical processes occurring in mining-influenced waters (e.g. pyrite weathering, acid mine drainage) and shows how to use PHREEQC software for modelling speciation, equilibria, mixing, mineral phases, and kinetic reactions. It combines theory (chemical thermodynamics, redox, acidity/alkalinity) with practical exercises and real-world case studies so attendees can apply modelling tools to assess water chemistry and its environmental effects.
